Daily Hair Care Routine and Styling Tips

Hair Care in the Morning

We recommend you gently comb your hair with a wide-tooth comb in the morning. Start brushing from the ends of the extensions towards the scalp to avoid putting too much pressure on the weft. This will make sure your hair is always smooth and free of tangles. 😊

For curly and tight wavy hair, style with your hand because brushing a curly/wavy texture might cause a lot of frizz.

Hair Care Before Bed

Never sleep on wet hair! This is very important because sleeping on wet hair is known to make your hair matte and tangle. Ensure the hair is dry before you go to sleep. You can wear a bonnet to maintain the textures and curls on your hair. Rolling your hair in rods can help you secure the curls and make curly textures less frizzy in the morning. Doing this at night helps you reduce the use of heat on your hair daily and can make your extensions last longer. 🌙

Reinstall Maintenance

Schedule your reinstall appointment every 3-6 weeks or however long your stylist recommends. For frontals, closures, and lace wigs, ensure you reinstall to maintain your hairline. 💇‍♀️

Simple At-Home Maintenance for Your Hair

  1. Gently brush out the hair with a wide-tooth comb.
  2. Apply water with a spray bottle until it is completely soaked.
  3. Apply an anti-frizz product of your choice. Use products specialized for curly/wavy patterns for your wavy, curly hair.
  4. Air dry three times before any manipulation of the hair to allow the hair’s texture to bounce back to its original state.

How Often Do I Wash My Hair?

Wash your hair as often as you like. Co-wash before installation; some stylists might include the wash, and some may require you to co-wash before the appointment. Always wash your hair with sulfate-free conditioners and deep condition it every week. Reduce the amount of shampoo washes because shampoo can strip your hair and cause it to matte or tangle. 🚿

Tips for Styling

  1. Detangle the hair using a wide-tooth comb. Please be gentle while brushing your hair from the bottom to the top. Using small tooth combs can cause unwanted breakage and shedding because they snag your hair.
  2. To create a new part, spray water at the lace base, part it anywhere you want, then tie the hair down until it completely dries.
  3. Do not touch your lace with any heat tools. Use heat protectant while styling to your desired look with heat tools. 🔥
  4. Pluck your hairline gently to create a more natural look. Rough plucking might tear the lace and cause excessive shedding.
  5. Brush your hair to remove all tangles before bed. Braid your hair in big loose braids, wrap it, or tie it into a ponytail or bun. Sleep in a silk or satin scarf to maintain your texture.
  6. Remove all tangles and brush the hair gently before washing. Wet the hair by small portions and use moisturizing shampoos and conditioners. Wash in a downward motion to ensure the cuticles are closed and smooth. Apply deep moisturizer and conditioners. Air dry your hair to restore any curls and patterns. Spray a leave-in conditioner.
  7. Apply curl defining cream while the hair is wet. This will reduce frizz and secure your wave or curl pattern.
  8. Style your curly or wavy hair by hand. Avoid brushing in general because brushing or fingering through curly hair will cause frizziness.
  9. Curly and wavy textures are harder to maintain than straighter textures. There are plenty of maintenance and styling tips on YouTube that teach you how to revive your curl patterns and maintain them for years! 💻
